Public transport in Slovenia

About Slovenia
Slovenia is#nbsp;a#nbsp;small country, so#nbsp;the main public transport here is#nbsp;the bus. City buses run according to#nbsp;the timetable posted at#nbsp;the bus stops. The routes' numbers and directions are also indicated there. Buses run from 5:00 to#nbsp;22:30, but on#nbsp;the main directions they run from 3:00 to#nbsp;24:00. You can see the schedule and build a#nbsp;route on#nbsp;the website www.lpp.si/ or#nbsp;in#nbsp;the LPPinfo app.
The bus fare is#nbsp;from €#nbsp;1.3 to €#nbsp;2.7 depending on#nbsp;the number of#nbsp;zones to#nbsp;be#nbsp;crossed. The ticket is#nbsp;valid for 90 minutes, during this time you can change to#nbsp;other routes. To#nbsp;keep the fare lower, you can buy an#nbsp;unlimited pass: a#nbsp;monthly pass for adults costs from €#nbsp;37 to €#nbsp;63 depending on#nbsp;the number of#nbsp;zones to#nbsp;be#nbsp;crossed, and an#nbsp;annual pass costs from €#nbsp;365 to €#nbsp;630.
Fares can only be#nbsp;paid with an#nbsp;Urbana karta card, cash is#nbsp;not accepted in#nbsp;the bus. You can buy and top up#nbsp;the card via the terminals at#nbsp;bus stops or#nbsp;newsstands. Urbana karta can also be#nbsp;used to#nbsp;pay for the cable car ride to#nbsp;Ljubljana Castle, parking, Ljubljana Library, entrance tickets to#nbsp;museums, sports and cultural events.

Long-distance transport

You can travel long-distance or#nbsp;overseas by#nbsp;bus or#nbsp;train. You can also buy season tickets and discounted tickets. And there are combined fares, for using both urban and long-distance or#nbsp;international transport.

Riding the bicycle

In#nbsp;Europe, the bicycle is#nbsp;a#nbsp;convenient, safe and environmentally friendly city transport. It#nbsp;also helps to#nbsp;solve the parking problem. There are few parking lots in#nbsp;the central districts, and parking fees are high.
A#nbsp;large number of#nbsp;bicycle lanes and parking lots are organized in#nbsp;the cities, and there are automated bicycle rental points. The first hour is#nbsp;free, a#nbsp;week’s subscription costs €#nbsp;1 and a#nbsp;year’s subscription costs €#nbsp;3. Maps of#nbsp;the rental stations and subscription services are available at www.bicikelj.si/.
