A permanent residence permit gives the right to live in Slovenia as a citizen of the country. This option is suitable for those who are not ready to renounce their principal citizenship.
Nevertheless, Slovenian citizenship gives the following opportunities:
- The right to political participation — a citizen has the right to vote, become a candidate for public office, address the government with their demands.
- The ability to buy and sell real estate as a natural person.
- Protection by the state — a citizen of Slovenia is protected by the law and can address the government for help and protection of his/her rights.
- Ability to hold public office.
Conditions for citizenship:
- Residence in Slovenia for 10 years on the basis of business immigration and employment or 7 years on the basis of university studies.
- Timely extension of residence permit and obtaining permanent residence permit.
- Certificate of passing the Slovenian language exam at level B1.
- Good knowledge of the legal system and culture of the country.
- Certificates of no criminal record.
- Financial guarantees — monthly income must be at least 669.83 € per month.
- Preliminary renunciation of primary citizenship.
Unlike in many European countries, Slovenian legislation guarantees permanent residence in Slovenia and citizenship if the following conditions are met.
